DOT General Awareness/Familiarization Training
CTEH® offers training programs to those individuals whose employers have determined to their employee(s) to be “hazmat employees” according to the US Department of Transportation.
DOT Requirements for the Training:According to DOT, hazmat employees “require a systematic program that ensures a hazmat employee has familiarity with the general provisions of this subchapter (referring to Subpart H of 49CFR), is able to recognize and identify hazardous materials, has knowledge of specific requirements of this subchapter applicable to functions performed by the employee, and has knowledge of emergency response information, self-protection measures, and accident prevention methods and procedures (see 172.704).”
These employees require General Awareness/Familiarization training, Function-specific training, and Safety training. This subpart also identifies recurrent training requirements for these employees.
These courses shall meet or exceed all requirements of 49CFR172.700.
