Dr. Nony is a senior toxicologist at CTEH® specializing in toxicology, risk assessment, worker and public health, industrial hygiene, and emergency response. He provides toxicological support to client employees and health care professional following worker chemical exposures through the CTEH® Worker Exposure Response Program (WERP®), and he is a responding toxicologist in the CTEH® Toxicology Emergency Response Program (TERP®). Dr. Nony also participates in a variety of projects, ranging from chemical product evaluation to environmental contamination and toxic tort litigation. He is a member of CTEH’s Major Projects Team.
As part of the CTEH® Toxicology Emergency Response Program, participated as a team leader and/or supporting toxicologist on more than 50 major chemical disasters since 2003. Projects include major oil spills, plant fires, and train derailments where the release, or threat of release, of chemicals and/or their combustion products poses a risk to residents, cleanup workers, and the environment.
Responded to over 300 worker exposure incidents involving more than 500 individual workers with exposures to one or more of a wide variety of chemicals including petroleum products, acids, caustics, inhalation hazards, vehicle exhausts, and other chemicals of concern.
Participated in the design and execution of recent and future chemical air monitoring projects as part of the US Department of Homeland Security’s program to assess the behavior of large-scale releases of the toxic inhalation hazards chlorine and anhydrous ammonia.
Has worked on several large projects related to the understanding of human health hazards posed by environmental contaminants, most notably polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), chlorinated dioxins, and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs).
Serves as a technical liaison between CTEH’s emergency response field managers and emergency response toxicologists.
