What a Year: 2015 in Review
Whether our scientists were presenting at national conferences, authoring papers for leading scientific publications or simply giving back to their local communities, 2015 was quite the year forCTEH®. Here are just a few of the highlights:
•Appointing Higg as Director of TERP: In September, Allen “Higg” Higginbotham, REM, was named director of the Toxicology Emergency Response Program. Congratulations, Higg!
•Congratulating Cole Ledbetter: Cole Ledbetter—our central region industrial hygiene manager—is now a certified industrial hygienist (CIH) as recognized by the American Board of Industrial Hygiene (ABIH). Find out more about the CIH
•Educating the Public about Heat Related Illness: This summer, Dan Christensen, CIH, CSP—our director of industrial hygiene services—shared his knowledge with Arkansas television stations about how to avoid heat illness. Read more here.
•Highlighting Dr. Kelly Scribner’s Research: While at the American Industrial Hygiene Conference & Exposition, Dr. Scribner presented her abstract on mercury contamination, which she co-authored with CTEH®’s Dr. John Kind and Jason Callahan.
•Marking 365 Days of Safety: In July, CTEH® celebrated 365 days without an Occupational Safety and Health Administration recordable. See the photos.
•Celebrating Don Linville: Don Linville, CIH, FAIHA, one of our mid-Atlantic regional industrial hygiene managers, was one of 13 individuals selected by the American Industrial Hygiene Association as a 2015 Distinguished Lecturer.
•Presenting at the Annual Society of Toxicology Meeting: At the 54th Annual Society of Toxicology Meeting and ToxExpo, CTEH® toxicologists presented their research on occupational exposure limits (OELs) for hydrocarbon vapor mixtures emitted from Bakken and non-Bakken crude oil. Read more.
•Saluting a CTEH Hero: In April, Robert Wilkinson—an environmental project manager—received the first-ever CTEH® Safety Coin for his courageous actions on an interstate in Alabama.
•Attending the Clean Gulf Conference and Exhibition: CTEH® enjoyed attending the 25thAnnual Clean Gulf Conference and Exhibition in New Orleans and sharing our insight with the spill preparedness and response community.
