Honoring Dave Cawthon, PhD, DABT

We are deeply saddened by the loss of our good friend and colleague, Dr. Dave Cawthon, CTEH Project Toxicologist. As a member of CTEH for more than 11 years, Dave was well respected by both his coworkers and clients for his genuine kindness, professional demeanor and level temperament. While he responded to more than 175 worker exposure incidents at CTEH, Dave also served as a mentor and valuable resource for those of us who had recently joined the toxicology field.

Since Dave’s passing, we have come together to reflect on his contributions to our team. Over and over again, we have noted that we were “always impressed by his knowledge, calm manner and easy-going personality.” But, as some have said so well, “most of all, we considered Dave our trusted friend.” We will all miss seeing his smiling face in our office.

“From the very beginning of David’s time with us he was a kind and helpful coworker who was always willing and able to jump in and help where needed.  On many occasions he took initiative to tackle tasks that helped the rest of us, and never complained about the challenges before him.  I’m thankful for the years that I was able to work alongside David and will truly miss his kind and helpful ways.” CTEH Founder, Phil Goad, PhD.

Please join us in celebrating Dave’s life at a memorial service on Saturday, June 4th at the Smith-North Little Rock Funeral Home. Memorials may also be made to the University Recreation-Women’s Rugby, 155 North Stadium Drive, HPER-225, Fayetteville, Arkansas 72701.
