Dr. Cawthon is a board certified toxicologist and project toxicologist at CTEH® specializing in toxicology, risk assessment, industrial hygiene, and emergency response. He evaluates client projects and develops strategies to address issues related to each project. Dr. Cawthon provides toxicological support following chemical exposures to client employees and health care workers through the CTEH® Worker Exposure Response Program (WERP®) and he is a responding toxicologist in the CTEH® Toxicology Emergency Response Program (TERP®). Also, he participates in a variety of projects, ranging from chemical product evaluation to environmental contamination and toxic tort litigation.

EXPERIENCE HIGHLIGHTS
  • Responded to over 120 worker exposure incidents involving a wide variety of chemicals including: diesel fuel, battery acid fumes, exhaust fumes, ammonia, pesticides and other chemicals of concern.

  • As part of the CTEH® Toxicology Emergency Response Program, responded to derailments, fires, and chemical releases involving crude oil, gasoline, natural gas, ammonia, toluene. diisocyanate, chlorine, 1,3-butadiene, combustion products, and many others.

  • Participates in special projects such as new product toxicity evaluations and product labeling.

  • CTEH® expert on Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) evaluation and compliance.
